Endodontists - Chicago and Hoffman Estates

This topic of dentistry refers to infection into the hollow, central part of the tooth and the nerve and blood supply going to the tooth. This type of treatment is known as a root canal and for some reason is one of the dreaded topics in dentistry. Our Endodontist will prove to you that root canals do not need to cause pain and can be done relatively fast, usually in two visits. Root canals are generally needed for the following reasons:

  • Decay has entered or gotten too close to the part of the tooth where you find the nerve.
  • Trauma to the tooth, either immediate or even after several months or years.
  • Recent dental work. Sometimes a restoration is place in a tooth and the tooth cannot tolerate the trauma associated with the placement of a restoration. The usual after restoration discomfort will not diminish and root canal will be needed.
